Over 250 Outdoor Industry Businesses Sign Letter to President Trump Opposing Pebble Mine

Earlier today, May 20th, letters signed by hundreds of businesses and thousands of people landed on President Trump’s desk. Both letters make the same demand: protect Bristol Bay by opposing Pebble Mine. This resources is too important and too productive to allow it to be threatened by a foreign mining company. If you stood up for Bristol Bay and added your name to the letter, we applaud you. Hopefully, this significant coalition can pressure President Trump to make the responsible decision to save Bristol Bay.

In reference to the letters, Trout Unlimited’s Chris Wood had this to say: “The President has the opportunity to make clear that he stands with rural America, a beloved swath of the Alaskan great outdoors, and American jobs, by denying the permit for the Pebble Mine. All we have to do to protect the best salmon and trout fisheries in the world is to have the good sense to simply leave it alone.”

As the Army Corps of Engineers reviews the final permit decisions and documents for the mine, one thing is for sure: at least 250 business and tens of thousands of individuals all throughout the country oppose Pebble. We will be keeping a close eye on further Pebble Mine developments.
